The National Disability Insurance Scheme is Australia’s first national scheme for eligible people with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive, and psychosocial disabilities.
When fully rolled out, it will provide about 500,000 Australians aged under 65, who have a permanent and significant disability, with funding for support and services.
The NDIS was designed to help people with a disability obtain the support they need to improve their skills and independence over time, promoting reasonable and necessary funding to people with permanent and significant disabilities to access the support and services they need.
Facilitating assistance or products that help people in their daily lives so they can participate in the community and achieve their goals.
The NDIS also supports children or adults as early as possible to reduce the impact of disability or developmental delay and to develop their skills and independence.
