Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a NDIS-funded support service designed to help people with disabilities live as independently as possible. With SIL, individuals receive support at home from a dedicated team of support workers, which often includes overnight care, ensuring 24/7 assistance when needed.
SIL typically involves shared accommodation, where individuals live with others who have similar needs and personalities and receive support from Hope Minded Care staff in various aspects of daily living. However, SIL also offers flexibility, allowing individuals to live on their own if preferred.
At Hope Minded Care, we work closely with individuals, families, and Support Coordinators to find a living arrangement that suits each person’s unique needs. Whether you choose to share with others or live independently, our goal is to give you control over how you live, prioritizing safety, happiness, and inclusion.
Our team helps with a range of daily tasks, including managing money and household budgeting, cooking, using public transport, personal care (like showering and dressing), shopping, and improving daily living skills. Support is tailored to each person’s needs, whether that’s minimal supervision or full assistance, with a rotating roster of highly trained support workers ensuring continuity of care.
SIL is designed for people with higher support needs who require significant daily care, including overnight assistance. There are three levels of SIL support funded by the NDIS:
- Lower needs: Supervision of living arrangements, usually not 24/7.
- Standard needs: 24/7 support with assistance in most daily tasks and overnight supervision.
- Higher needs: 24/7 active support, including overnight care and management of challenging behaviours requiring positive behaviour support.
Hope Minded Care aims to simplify the process of finding the right home, removing the stress of searching and securing a suitable living arrangement. Our compassionate support workers go beyond just accommodation, helping clients build essential life skills for greater independence and community involvement. Whether it’s cooking nutritious meals or budgeting, we’re here to provide reliable, round-the-clock support, empowering individuals to live confidently and independently.
